STORYLINE:
In the small town of Souza in Cameroon’s Littoral Region, 35-year-old farmer Arnold Kogaing has achieved great success cultivating fruits.
Before establishing his own farm in 2019, Arnold studied in China for nine years and earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree.
Moreover, the Chinese friends he made during the stay introduced him to the opportunities to plant fruit.
Over the years, his Chinese friends have helped Kogaing to import fruit varieties from China and taught him advanced techniques in agriculture.

« We can harvest about twice a week during the peak seasons. We can generally expect between two and three tons (of fruit) per month. We usually harvest on demand. »
Local people’s fruit baskets are now filled with these exotic varieties which used to be available through imports only, such as cherry tomato, carambola, jackfruit, and wax apple.

« Today, the fruit is ready to be delivered to supermarkets. I learned a lot from my friends in China about farming techniques. They taught me a great deal, particularly because they were very open about sharing their knowledge. »
